for Julie and Christie

I never claimed that it was a real elephant, it’s obvious that it isn’t.

(and Julie, your comment is on the wrong post)

That being said here is a real one for all you unsatisfied viewers.

please pray for mom

June had an accident and fell down a flight of stairs and broke her shoulder. Thankfully, we found out this morning that she won’t need an opperation to set and and put in pins, which is what they said at first. Please pray that it will set on it’s own and heal well naturally and that she won’t be in so much pain. Thank you so much

Oh happy day

Lily says that seeing a VW Bug makes it a good day. If so then yesterday must have been extra special cause I saw about twenty of them — and at least four were yellow sunshine ones.

It was, at least, a unique day. Some good things happened: Mom got good news from the doctor she’s seeing for her blood pressure even though we were at the hospital from 6 in the morning till about 1:00; three souls were saved at the university; I made chilli and corn bread and everyone was inspired (except for poor Gabe who doesn’t like beans); even though we got lost and drove for about half an hour Dad and I found a nice place to have a beer and watch Chelsea vs. Liverpool in the semi final of UEFA Champions League.

The game went into extra time and ended with Chelsea winning 3 - 2 after they were awarded a penalty for a foul that wasn’t really in the box and Liverpool wasn’t given anything when they were fouled in the box a few minutes later. Plus I later found out that Chelsea’s first goal was actually off side. Somehow this doesn’t seem quite fair. This is when I remind myself that I don’t actually like club football and feel happy that the Euro cup is coming up soon.

Christmas in May

I’m sure this takes the record for the latest possible christmas post, but since I just came across these photos when I was looking for something to put up I thought you might still enjoy them… and after all Christmas is only 8 months away :)

It’s Raining!

After two weeks of six hour a day power cuts because water levels are too low in the rivers for the hydroelectric power plants to run at full capacity, it is finally raining.

It’s only the second rain we’ve had this whole winter!

Let’s pray for more of it.

Merry Christmas and lots of Christmas Cheer

We just finished singing at the Shangri-la Hotel *(you all do know that I can’t sing). But it sounded pretty good anyhow.

Lots of people came and took photos with us. They thought we were cool.

Chinese people gave us beer.

It’s Christmas Eve and we are happy!

here’s a good recipe for fudge for all those of you who haven’t gotten your sweet quota in yet this year:

Sour Cream Fudge

2 c. sugar
1 c. sour cream (can use yoghurt)
2 sq. unsweeted chocolate, broken (0r 6 T cocoa pdr. & 2 T oil)
1/2 t. salt
2 T light corn syrup
2 T butter
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

In heavy sauce pan combine sugar, sour cream, chocolate, salt & syrup. Over low heat stir until sugar disolves. Cool over medum heauntil boiling; cover and cook 3 min. Uncover & cook, stirring frequently to soft ball stage (drop small amount into cold water, it should form a soft ball which flattens on removal from water). Remove from heat. Add butter & vanilla. Cool to lukewarm without stirring. Beat vigorously until candy is creamy and has lost it’s gloss. Add nuts, pour into buttered square pan (8in.) Cut into 1 1/4 in. squares when hardened.

Back from Pokhara

We just went on a super cool, eight day road trip to Pokhara, a little touristy city on a gorgeous lake surrounded by mountains.

I counted, and it was my 16th time there! And it’s the sort of place that you always want to go back to. We had a couple of good OR days up in the city, and then hung out on the lakeside tourist area over the Tihar holidays with lots of personal witnessing.

The Lord was so good to us to work out all our nights for free in really nice hotels even though it was peak season, and most of our meals, and even a lot of little extras like drinks, pool games, dancing, etc.

And we met new cool people to follow up on.

On the way back we stopped for a night in Bandipur, a little village up on a hill. It was super small and quaint all in a very old traditional style, and very clean. Our friends worked it out to put us up in a really cool little inn with all our meals included, and we woke up the next morning to the most gorgeous view of the mountains.

Pictures will be coming in a while once I develop the film and scan the photos. Such is life with an old fashioned camera, but there is nothing like it for quality of the pictures, and I still prefer it to digital. Some day I will at least get a digi for blogging, e-mails, newsletters.
